Pyro-coating System

The pyrocoater is used in the float bath . It is ideally suited to make highly reflective glass by pyrolysis or chemical vapor deposition. The equipment consists of  water cooled beams which are located accurately in the operating position 2 to 4 mm above the glass over a 3 to 4 m span. The distributor chamber in the beam, and the glass surface, form a channel through which the reactant gas can pass in contact with the hot glass surface. An extraction unit close to the distributor removes excess unreacted gas and reaction products.

In the reaction zone, Silane breaks down to silicon and hydrogen to leave a silicon coating on the glass. The product will reflect about 50% of the light and heat from the sun. The coating may also be applied to glasses which are already tinted to give further variations to the light and heat transmission of the product. In architectural applications the glass gives the building a characteristic mirror like appearance which reflects the surroundings and the clouds to make the building part of the natural landscape. It also gives day time privacy to the occupants.
