Highest Performance Spacer Systems easily substituted within current WERs

Thermoseal Group, the UK’s leading manufacturer of warm edge spacers and accessories and supplier of a wide range of insulated glass components, has introduced a new advertising and promotional campaign to showcase its Thermobar and Thermoflex Warm Edge Spacers – both have a thermal performance which is not bettered by any other spacer tube and flexible spacer system currently available!

Thermobar Warm Edge Spacer Tube (0.14 W/mK) and Thermoflex Warm Edge Spacer (0.135 W/mK) both have relevant Bundesverband Flachglas (BF) Data Sheets available to download on the BF website: http://www.bundesverband-flachglas.de/.

This data makes both products suitable for substitution within current BFRC Window Energy Ratings without the requirement for further simulations. 

The BFRC’s substitution rule states that, providing spacer bars are of the same or smaller profile height than the original simulation and the secondary sealant remains unchanged: “Spacer bars (including the primary sealant and desiccant) may be substituted when the replacement has an equal or lower effective thermal conductivity (measured to 3 decimal places) than the spacer bar specified in the original licence.”  This means that Thermobar can be substituted for any other 6.5mm profile height spacer tube (or spacer tube of greater profile height) currently available and Thermoflex can be exchanged for flexible spacer systems – the closest comparable one having a thermal conductivity value of 0.15 W/mK!

“Our manufacturing facility has seen continual development over the past few years in terms of investment of over £5 million in high technology equipment, additional buildings and also the growing team of skilled professionals that we have employed to lead and develop our innovation centre and production facilities.  The latest addition to our team is Richard Sellman, a qualified Chemist who has worked in the IG industry for over 30 years.  Richard is also the Chairman of the GGF Components Group, he has attended TC 129 WG4 (EN 1279) meetings and has been involved in drafting the latest revision of EN 1279 standards.  Richard is now Technical Manager at Thermoseal Group.

“At Thermoseal Group Wigan, we also have our own EN 1279 test centre set up so that we can ensure that all of the products that we produce are fully tested and offer best performance within the lifetime of insulated glass sealed units.  This also means that we can predict the results before we submit our products for independent testing.
