In case of fire the intumescent interlayers expand at about 120° C and transform into a rigid and opaque shield effectively blocking both convected and radiated heat transmission. This ensures effective egress for building occupants as well as the prevention of fire expansion due to the spontaneous combustion of materials on the protected side.
