Screen Print Innovations, a new industry event taking place from June 3-5, 2025, at Messe Essen, will serve as a hub for professionals interested in the latest advancements in glass decoration.
The exhibition will showcase cutting-edge screen and pad printing technologies for both flat and hollow glass applications, spanning industries such as packaging, architecture, automotive, and appliances. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of printing systems, drying and curing equipment, inks, and other essential consumables, while also benefiting from expert-led discussions at the SPI Innovation Theatre. Registration is free of charge.
The Enduring Partnership of Glass and Screen Printing
Glass is a material valued for its durability and versatility, playing a crucial role in industries such as packaging, consumer electronics, automotive, and architectural construction. Screen printing, in turn, has long been the preferred technique for decorating glass, offering unmatched opacity, reproducibility, durability, and the ability to conform to irregular surfaces.
“A glance at centuries-old artifacts in museums demonstrates the longevity of glass,” notes Jon Bultemeyer, industry veteran and SPI Ambassador. “To complement this enduring material, ink technology must be equally resilient. Screen printing, with its high-resin-content inks, is ideally suited to long-term glass applications. Not only is it compatible with the material itself, but the process is also robust enough for industrial settings. Unlike more sensitive printing technologies, screen printing can accommodate variations in surface texture and environmental conditions.”
Peter Buttiens, CEO of ESMA (European Specialist Printing Manufacturers Association) and organizer of SPI 2025, highlights the adaptability of screen printing: “No shape is too complex. From drinking glasses and perfume bottles to curved display screens, screen printing meets the challenge. But beyond aesthetics, it plays a functional role in applications such as printed heating elements on cooking plates, touch-sensitive panels, and photovoltaic cells.”
Exploring Innovation Across Industries
While screen and pad printing are widely recognized in the glass sector, SPI 2025 will highlight their versatility across various industries, including plastics, printed electronics, biomedical applications, and textiles. Attendees may gain fresh insights by observing how these technologies are applied in seemingly unrelated fields—an approach that often sparks cross-industry innovation.
The exhibition will feature leading manufacturers of glass inks, printing systems, and mesh solutions, including Sun Chemical, SPS TechnoScreen, Proell, Gallus, Drop, GPE A. Ardenghi, KIWO, Sefar, and Saati, among others. For the full list of exhibitors, visit the SPI Exhibitor Catalogue: https://spi-europe.com/exhibitors/exhibitor-catalogue
