Silica in Glass High purity, crystalline silica sands with consistent size distribution, low levels of iron and good refractive elements offer more uniform batch chemistry for greater control over critical quality parameters like viscosity, colour and clarity. Such quality sands are ideal for the production of container glass, tableware and special glassware and are available from AMA. Silica flours derived from our high purity industrial quartz feed stock are well suited for the manufacture of fibre glass and continuous glass filament production. We produce special chemically pure silica flours containing low alkalis for the manufacture of TFT/ LCD glass. Feldspar in Glass Feldspars are used as fluxes in glass production to optimise energy consumption and improve viscosity. They are available in the soda and potash forms or as the feldspathic mineral, nepheline syenite. We carry out quality control for particle size distribution, chemical analysis, vitrification and fired colour to ensure product consistency.
