Students get a basic introductory vocational training in design and processing wood and glass for various purposes. Having passed their finals successfully they may admitted to a secondary technical school for design.

It is a design school for students at an intermediate level with the option to attend an additional year (FOS 13) to obtain the A-level-exam.

School leavers who have attended the FOS 13 get the highest qualification the German school system offers: The A-Level without any restrictions if they passed a second foreign language. If they do not pass a second foreign language, they are nevertheless admitted to study any subjects in the field of design or can even become teachers at technical colleges in the fields described above
